I’ve had the throwing-up-and-falling-over virus since Friday morning. Broadcasting may be bitty, because I’m still doing the falling-over part from time to time.
This is Warren Ellis dot com. Good morning.
And this is the brilliant Ellen Rogers:

My computer is acting funny and not really working. Which sucks. I'm going to go home and try to fix it now, maybe?
My new favorite thing to eat is PERSIMMONS!
Quoth Wikipedia, "A persimmon, known to the ancient Greeks as "the fruit of the gods"[1] is the edible fruit of a number of species of trees of the genus Diospyros in the ebony wood family (Ebenaceae). The word persimmon is derived from putchamin, pasiminan, or pessamin, from Powhatan, an Algonquian language (related to Blackfoot, Cree and Mohican) of the eastern United States, meaning "a dry fruit".[2] Persimmons are generally light yellow-orange to dark red-orange in color, and depending on the species, vary in size from 1.5-9 cm (0.5-4 in) diameter, and may be spherical, acorn-, or pumpkin-shaped.[3] The calyx often remains attached to the fruit after harvesting, but becomes easier to remove as it ripens. They are high in glucose, with a balanced protein profile, and possess various medicinal and chemical uses. While the persimmon fruit is not considered a "common berry" it is in fact a "true berry" by definition."
It's HUGE BERRY! That's CRAZY! They taste so good.
I made a new oil painting tonight, and finished up another one. I'm getting so into painting again. I loooove it. :D |

| | grateful | ] | I had an absolutely lovely day with Charles today. We had waffles and ice cream and watched ducks. Sometimes he worries me, but I'm so in love with that boy.
I'm dreadfully behind on everyone's lives, and I apologize. The more I try to catch up, the more I realize that I'm out of touch. If you were dead, you'd call me, right?
The job is going well enough. I keep fucking up, but most of them are little fuck-ups, of the sort that can be fixed. I haven't made any friends (I don't think that I'm likely to be close to my immediate boss), but I'm less painfully shy than I was when I started. So, that's something. I sort of miscalculated my monies, and, for the moment, I don't have a red cent, but all will be settled in two weeks.
My hair is coming out in wee fistfuls, and it's starting to freak me out. WebMD tells me that it's nothing, stress or trauma or meds, and that the hair will grow back, but what do they know.
This year, I'm staying in Baltimore and having Thanksgiving with Carly and Charles. Thank you so much to everyone who offered to open up their homes to this little orphan. It made me so happy that I got so many offers, and I want to thank you.
An amateur group up in Havre de Grace is putting on Rent. Who wants to go with me? |

Not much to say. Too busy. Doc and I are about to finish our collaborative script for the finale of season 4.2 and I'm literally on my way out the door to the final sound mix for the last episode of season 4.1.
As such I will soon be blessedly free from writing and post-production duties for a while. Looking forward to just being a director for the next several months--still a difficult, full-time job, but at least it's not three difficult, full-time jobs on top of each other.
I did want to say that tonight's episode is really really good, though. Probably my favorite of Doc's scripts in these first eight episodes. Much to enjoy in it, on the biggest and smallest of scales. And if you're not finally converted to Sgt. Hatred by this one, then you're never ever going to like the poor lug.
Also, the Williams Street online store has a ton of new Venture Bros. merch for sale. Get 'em now, before our request for freebies exhausts their limited supply!
We Love You,
JP

P.S. Two small items my perusal of various message boards these past few weeks compels me to comment upon:
1. Captain Sunshine = NOT an actual pedophile.
2. Brock's absence has nothing to do with Patrick Warburton. He didn't ask for more money, he's not too busy for us, he hasn't refused to come back or anything of the sort. It was a creative choice on our part, and Brock WILL be back in the show at some point. Just not this week. Or next. |

| Moon Wiring Club: INFORMATION SERVICES |

I love Moon Wiring Club. And not just because I got their new record this weekend, which I am going to play tonight because I’ve been sick and/or unconscious with some weird bug since Friday morning. Oh no. (What if it cured me?) No, I love them because they do things like this, too:
In 1982, Gelographic RadioTelevision co-broadcast a test transmission for the tentative BBC5 channel.
Although the station idents were deemed a massive success, sadly the only known survivors of this viewing were unable to be traced, due to radiation issues. This archive footage has been recently unearthed, and provides a tempting glimpse into what those who watched through the smoked glass were able to see.
The musical accompaniment, acclaimed in some quarters, features on the new Moon Wiring Club album ’Striped Paint for the Last Post’, due ’sometime’ November. Certainly before the feast of Syllabub in any case.
Remember: confusing electronic music is a great British tradition.

- Help Phoenix Marie
"We are raising funds to get urgently needed medical treatment for our beloved friend, Phoenix Marie. She has been battling a life-threatening progressive heart valve disease since 2006, when she had her first heart failure and near death experience. With no insurance to cover her, Phoenix sold almost all of her valuable belongings and clothing and did eBay sales for half a year in order to see a specialist and receive the tests and costly x-rays needed to diagnose her condition. Her heart disease was a congenital defect (from birth) that was apparently misdiagnosed in childhood as harmless and left unchecked…" (tags:people )

| Apple Files Patent On Evil |
[Nov. 15th, 2009|11:23 am] |
|
Apple has filed for patent on a technology they call an "enforcement routine," that’ll display ads on pretty much any device with a screen and demand that you view them — or else you don’t get your device back:
Its distinctive feature is a design that doesn’t simply invite a user to pay attention to an ad — it also compels attention. The technology can freeze the device until the user clicks a button or answers a test question to demonstrate that he or she has dutifully noticed the commercial message. Because this technology would be embedded in the innermost core of the device, the ads could appear on the screen at any time, no matter what one is doing.
